Abuse Policy & Reporting
EmailAlias is a privacy tool, not an anonymity shield for bad actors. We investigate every abuse report and suspend accounts that violate our policies.
Report abuse now
Spam, phishing, harassment, or other policy violations — email us and we'll respond within 24 hours.
Prohibited Uses
EmailAlias aliases may not be used for, or to facilitate, any of the following. Accounts caught engaging in these behaviors are suspended immediately, often without notice.
Spam & unsolicited bulk email
Sending promotional, commercial, or mass email to recipients who did not explicitly opt in.
Phishing & credential theft
Impersonating another person, brand, or organization to extract passwords, payment info, or other sensitive data.
Malware distribution
Sending or linking to viruses, ransomware, trojans, or any software intended to damage or gain unauthorized access.
Fraud & scams
Advance-fee fraud, romance scams, fake invoices, crypto scams, or any deceptive practice intended to defraud.
Harassment & threats
Targeted abuse, stalking, doxxing, incitement to violence, or harassment against any individual or group.
Illegal content
Distributing content that violates applicable law, including child sexual abuse material (CSAM), which we report immediately to authorities.
Circumventing bans
Creating aliases to evade bans, blocks, or legal restrictions imposed by other services or jurisdictions.
Account abuse
Creating multiple accounts to bypass rate limits, subscription tiers, or previous suspensions.
How to Report
The more detail you include, the faster we can investigate and act. Please send abuse reports to support@emailalias.io and include:
Full email headers
Include the complete message headers of the abusive email — this lets us trace the exact alias and account responsible. In Gmail, click the three-dot menu → Show original.
The alias address
The @emailalias.io or custom-domain alias that sent the message (visible in the From: or Return-Path: header).
Description of the abuse
A brief summary of what the message did — spam, phishing attempt, harassment, etc. If you have multiple messages, attach them as .eml files.
Timestamps
When did you receive the message(s)? Date and time (with timezone) helps us correlate logs.
Your contact (optional)
If you'd like a response, include your email. Anonymous reports are accepted and acted on.
Our Response Commitment
Initial acknowledgement
Every abuse report receives a response within 24 hours — usually much faster during business hours.
Investigation & action
We investigate the reported account, review logs, and take appropriate action — warning, suspension, or permanent ban.
Final update
You'll receive a closing update explaining what we did, without revealing private account information.
How We Prevent Abuse
We don't rely on reports alone. Abuse prevention is built into every layer of the platform:
Inbound spam filtering
Every email is scored by SpamAssassin and a content filter before forwarding. High-score messages are dropped; borderline ones are marked. Tracking pixels and UTM parameters are stripped.
Bounce & complaint monitoring
Real-time ingestion of bounce and complaint signals from upstream mail providers. Destinations that bounce are blocked, and accounts with elevated complaint rates are auto-suspended.
Per-user rate limits
Strict per-minute and per-day send limits on every account, tighter for free accounts. Prevents any single user from using the platform for mass outreach.
Reputation thresholds
Per-account bounce rate above 5% or complaint rate above 0.2% triggers automatic suspension pending review. This protects both recipients and our overall deliverability.
Kill switch
A platform-wide kill switch can halt all outbound forwarding within seconds if an incident is detected. No abusive email leaves the system while the switch is active.
Destination verification
Every user must verify their destination email via a confirmation link before aliases become active. Prevents aliases from forwarding to addresses the user doesn't control.
Law Enforcement Requests
Law enforcement agencies investigating criminal activity on EmailAlias should contact legal@emailalias.io. We respond to valid legal process (subpoenas, court orders, MLATs) in accordance with applicable law.
- We preserve data on receipt of a valid preservation request.
- We challenge overbroad, indefinite, or unlawful requests.
- We notify users of requests unless legally prohibited from doing so.
- Emergency requests involving imminent danger are prioritized and may be handled via the abuse address.
